Asheville 11.11.11

Sylvia Vorwagner’s follow-up meeting with the mayor of Gmunden was very positive. We are happy to announce the mayor enthusiastically supports our artistic ventures -the full scope of which is still being fine tuned.

We’re also finalizing the rental agreement details on ARThaus4′s group studio space in Gmunden, Austria.

Next week, Sylvia will fly to Asheville, NC, to help install KunstHaus at SemiPublic Gallery . During her stay in Asheville she will visit lots of art studios, print with Tony Bradley of Sotto Editions and talk to the senior art class at Warren Wilson College.

10.30.11 asheville

it’s the day before halloween in asheville; tomorrow will be all souls in austria.

two weeks ago, sylvia vorwagner and i presented to gmunden’s cultural affairs committee. our proposal included partnering with the city of gmunden to create working artists studio spaces in the historic inner city.                                           www.gmunden.at &  www.salzkammergut.at                                                                                                        gmunden’s empty stores and commercial spaces could be “en-livened” by artists, increasing visitor traffic to the city. exhibitions could be scheduled regularly , as well as “open studio” hours. international artists could apply for visiting studio spaces, creating a cultural dialogue.

the presentation went very well and sylvia vorwagner will be meeting with gmunden’s mayor in early november to revisit ways of supporting the long-term project, including ARThaus4, the newly formed group studio – sylvia vorwagner, anette friedel-prenninger, donna price & heidi zednik.

altmünster 10.4.2011.

Things are moving forward at a whirlwind pace. Sylvia and I have looked at several possible group studio spaces. The weather continues to be beautiful, though supposedly it might snow by saturday.

Looking out over Lake Traunsee, from Gmunden

It looks like we’ll be starting the group studio, Traunsee Arts, in the spring with four artists – Donna E. Price, Anette Friedel-Prenninger, Sylvia Vorwagner and me.

One of the possible Traunsee Arts studio spaces….

I’m handing out the M.A.P. brochure left and right – with lots of interest and postive responses in return. Next week Sylvia and I present to Gmunden – we still have lots of work ahead of us.

altmünster 9.26.11.

sylvia vorwagner and i are preparing for our gmunden presentation, reviewing images sent by artists, as well as my asheville interview notes. we hear there’s a buzz starting to circulate – about what we might be up to. we’ve done some drive-bys of a few possible group studio spaces for traunsee arts and will meet with a city official on friday to look more in depth.

the weather here is beautiful and warm; i’m home with a sprained (or broken foot), working on projects that require no walking.
